Diaverum, a leading global renal care provider, established presence in Morocco in 2019 with its first clinic acquisition in Marrakech. Today Diaverum announces the acquisition of the Agadir Hemodialysis Clinic (CHA) in the city of Agadir, an important international tourist destination in the country.

The Agadir Hemodialysis Clinic was founded in 1992 by Doctors Bachir Mounib and Haddou Zemare, both widely considered among the pioneers of renal care development and provision in Morocco. Demand for renal care services across the country is rapidly increasing, with nearly 30,000 patients requiring chronic dialysis treatment.

This acquisition reflects Diaverum’s strong M&A pipeline and long term growth strategy that includes continued geographic expansion in selected, high growth potential markets. The addition of the Agadir Hemodialysis Clinic to our Morocco portfolio will strengthen the role Diaverum plays in the country’s renal care market. Agadir is also a premium tourist destination and will enable the company to extend its d.Holiday programme, which offers patients easy access to Diaverum’s life enhancing renal care when they travel.

Hervé Gourgouillon, Diaverum’s Vice President for the region, said: “The CHA dialysis clinic counts on an experienced multidisciplinary team of more than 30 caregivers, providing quality renal care to chronic disease patients. Agadir is a famous tourist city, and once the world overcomes the global COVID-19 pandemic, we will be able to offer our patients around the world another attractive holiday destination covered by our d.Holiday programme. It is with great pride that I welcome all of the Agadir team into Diaverum, and I am looking forward to working with them."

Dr. Bachir Mounib, CHA co-founder and nephrologist, said: "I welcome this integration into the Diaverum Group. Its international presence, high quality standards and proven efficiency in care delivery will allow us to develop our renal care services even further, with special focus on patient experience."

Dr. Haddou Zemare, CHA co-founder and nephrologist, adds: “Being part of the Diaverum family will also allow us to further improve our infrastructure, equipment and digital capabilities, in order to continue to provide Agadir patients with high quality renal care, including d.Holiday patients".

Salim Meraouna, Diaverum’s Director of Operations, concludes: "The acquisition of the Agadir Hemodialysis Clinic demonstrates our continuous commitment to our ambitions in Morocco, a country where we wish to become the leading renal care provider. With this acquisition, we will provide more Moroccan patients with access to the highest renal care delivery standards, as well as continue to safeguard their safety and health with our industry-leading COVID-19 policies and global Contingency Plan."
