We are proud to announce that Dr. Fernando Macário, Diaverum’s Chief Medical Officer, has been elected Honorary Member of the Portuguese Society of  Transplantation (Sociedade Portuguesa Transplantação - SPT).

Announced in March, the appointment is a lifetime honour that is awarded exclusively to members that have excelled in their role and contributions to the SPT. It is particularly well-deserved by Dr. Macário, whose long-standing involvement and collaboration with the society has spanned across more than two decades, during which time he also served as its President for six years (2010 – 2016).

The SPT is a prominent organisation, that plays a vital role in the research and advancement of transplantation in Portugal, by creating forums for discussion and collaboration amongst the country’s most eminent scientists & physicians. It also contributes to official, advisory and executive bodies involved in transplantation across the country.

Commenting on this prestigious appointment, Dr. Macário said: “I am both humbled by this honour and motivated by the challenges & responsibilities that come with being named Honorary Member of the SPT.  It has been my privilege now for many years to connect with my peers to help advance transplantation in Portugal, and I look forward to continuing on this fulfilling and purposeful journey”.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Macário on this important recognition.
