Diaverum UK is celebrating the launch of its Darlington Dialysis Unit in County Durham, NE England. The Unit, which officially opened its doors on 21 November, is operated and managed by Diaverum on behalf of the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It replaces the previous site, located on the grounds of Darlington Hospital.

The unit offers 20 spacious treatment stations as well as four isolation rooms, three consulting rooms, a Minimal Care room, large waiting area and a seminar room for in-house training. Crucially, it will also accommodate Nocturnal and Shared/Self-care services, thereby offering wider treatment options for local dialysis patients. Free parking is available for both patients and staff, while the Unit also benefits from easy access to the town centre and excellent transport links.

Lisa Jordan, Country Manager for Diaverum UK, commented on the new Unit’s launch: “Our new Darlington Unit is a safe, comfortable and sustainable facility, that offers significantly  improved features for both patients and staff. It provides space for a range of amenities and will be able to support dialysis needs in the local area for many years to come. I am especially delighted that the Unit accommodates shared/self-care services, further re-enforcing Diaverum’s commitment to empowering patients to live fulfilling lives, through increased involvement in their own care”.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in bringing this new Unit to life, for their hard work”.

Dale Henderson, Clinic Manager at the Darlington Dialysis Unit added: “We are so excited to be in our new Unit. Although we were fond of our old site, this new space will make a big difference to our patients’ experience whilst receiving treatment, and it also provides an opportunity to expand the services we offer them.  We are very pleased with it and grateful to everyone involved in the project”.

This launch comes less than a year following Diaverum UK’s successful tender submission to retain the management of Darlington and a further two major boroughs in NE England, where it has partnered with the local Trust to provide life-enhancing renal care since 2011. It is the latest in a series of major achievements for the team, that have included the launch of its purpose-built renal centre in Blackburn, taking on a leadership role in Diaverum’s wellness initiatives and their recent triumph at the inaugural Diaverum Awards, where the Lewisham Clinic was celebrated for its achievements in the True care category.
